The Royale Confrérie Prestige des Sacres was founded with the aim of promoting and spreading the spirit of solidarity that, from the 1700s to the 1900s, animated the associations of vignerons, who were royal suppliers for coronations in the Cathedral of Reims and were united by the ancient art of opening Champagne bottles in various ways, particularly during the “Journée de la Cuvée d’Honneur” (Day of the Honorary Cuvée). During this festival, which took place every year on January 22, known as the Feast of Saint Vincent, each winemaker’s honorary cuvée was opened in the most unusual ways: with a glass, a hoof, vineyard tools, or simply with a sword, as the great Emperor Napoleon used to do. This is how the Prestige des Sacres bottles were born, in honor of the Royal Confraternity. This spirit of solidarity continues today through the Confrérie’s charitable commitments, which are realized through contributions made by each member, including their membership fee. Each year, members participate in wine tastings and private events while also coming together to vote and support charitable causes.
